Thanushree B Raju, 10AMoldThere is mold growing in the pit of my stomach -spores inhaled from rotting oranges and threeweeks worth of unwashed coffee mugs.It festers in my airways, makes it hard to breathe, mycelium strangled heart and mildew infestedlungs - imperfect maladies.Spread through veins and arteries, parasites ofincongruous harmony. Peeking through my nailsbeds, tainting melodies.Tethered to the inside of my skin, the crawlinghues of green and brown grow unfettered, impervious even to the internal weather.Feeding on sorrows and joys alike, clouding whatused to be an infallible mind.Consumed, I lay motionless - praying only forexternal cleanse. But the mold knows me, it loves me so, keeps meteetering on brinks of almost.Days, weeks, months pass me by, reverberatingwith empty noise. The mold grows in me, I grow despite the mold.Remnants of hidden memories and prophecies yetto be foretold.Rising from the ashes of fires turned cold, with theinherent dimwittedness of the unwavering bold -in the shadows of dilapidated ruins carved out ofgold:I will have the final victory over the mold.MoldThere is mold growing in the pit of my stomach -spores inhaled from rotting oranges and threeweeks worth of unwashed coffee mugs.It festers in my airways, makes it hard to breathe, mycelium strangled heart and mildew infestedlungs - imperfect maladies.Spread through veins and arteries, parasites ofincongruous harmony.
