118 THE CLARENCIAN 2024-2025Inter House English Public Speaking CompetitionResults:The Inter-House English Public Speaking Competition was conducted on 27th June 2024 in the Flack Auditorium. The event aimed to develop students%u2019 confidence, critical thinking, and persuasive speaking skills. Students from the four School Houses%u2014Barton, Theobald, Redwood, and Wilcox%u2014participated enthusiastically. Preparations began in June soon after the school reopened, with English teachers conducting the initial selection and screening, followed by a second round by the House Counsellors. The English Department played an active role in making the event a grand success.The competition was held in two sessions. During the Morning Session (8:00 a.m. to 12 noon), students of Classes 3 to 8 impressed the audience through poem recitation, declamation, and speeches on assigned topics. The Afternoon Session (1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) featured debates for Classes 9 to 12 on contemporary issues.
