CELEBRATING GOD%u2019S GOODNESS 239Usually, people begged for mercy or fainted at the sight of him but this boy was something different. He looked like a human, though his ears were slightly pointed, but not as much as a pixie%u2019s. A halfling, thought the wyvern to himself, and a brave one at that.I must have a little fun with him. %u201cWell then, boy, I see you have no fear of me and I admire it. I will let you go on the condition that you can answer my riddle correctly,%u201d said the wyvern. %u201cAlright,%u201d the boy answered, %u201cbut if I answer correctly, you must give me a bag of silver with my freedom.%u201d The wyvern was hesitant but agreed to the boy%u2019s terms. Then he said this riddle:%u201cMy mother I bring forth, she brings forth me:I%u2019m sometimes greater, sometimes less than she. He had heard a troll%u2019s roar before but they would not dare be out in sunlight, lest they turn to stone. An ogre%u2019s roar was like that of a lion. But this roar%u2014this roar made him shiver with fear. He looked up at the sky and that was when he saw it: a dragon. But something about it did not seem right. The dragon was circling the area, getting lower by the minute and the boy realised that it must be about to land. As I have said before, he was not faint of heart and so he decided to follow it and see where it would land. It eventually landed and, from its appearance, the boy understood that it was not a dragon but a wyvern. A wyvern was quite like a dragon except that it had no front legs and it was also not as intelligent. The boy saw the wyvern enter a cave and he realised that he had just discovered its hoard. Slowly and quietly, he crept into the cave, his keen ears listening for even the slightest sound of the wyvern. But when he reached the centre of the cave, all thoughts of danger vanished from his mind because right in front of him, bright as day, sat a whole pile of silver. He should have paid more attention to his surroundings, because just then he heard a growl and felt searing hot breath on his back. He slowly turned around and found himself looking directly at the wyvern, its bird-like wings spread out. %u201cGive me one good reason as to why I should let you live, boy,%u201d said he. The boy knew that the only way to escape was to act fearless, so he looked at the wyvern and said, %u201cGive me one reason as to why I should tell you, wyvern.%u201dThe wyvern was taken aback by this.
