CELEBRATING GOD%u2019S GOODNESS 185Sid, realising he had found the Yeti, ran to its side and began tending to its wounds. No sooner had he finished than the creature looked up at him, its eyes filled with gratitude. Sid, taken aback, muttered under his breath that he would try to save the creature without revealing its existence to anyone. He cautiously walked back but the Yeti did not even try to chase him.Sid returned to the village in a state of awe. The very same evening when all the men in the village had gathered, Sid told them that the Gods who ruled the mountains had spoken to him, warning that the village would be destroyed unless they placed food on the outskirts of the village every night and that no man should ever witness how it disappeared.Although all the villagers had their doubts, they decided to give it a try. That night, Sid returned to his cave. As he slept on his bed of stone, his only wish was to return home. He soon fell asleep but was woken up by a loud noise and bright light. Suddenly, someone loudly said, %u201cThat can%u2019t be true, it must have been thunder and lightning!%u201d The old man, whose story had been interrupted, looked up. While everyone else was distracted, he glanced out the window. There, deep in the snowy Alps, he saw it%u2014the Yeti.Arnav JasonClass 10BKindness! A word easy to say but hard to find. When was the last time you really helped someone without expecting anything in return? The world, as we know it today, is filled with selfish people, people who would not even move if there wasn%u2019t something in it for them. Let%u2019s look at this scenario: your friend forgot to bring his lunch, you, being a %u2018kind%u2019 person, gave him some cash to buy food and asked him to return it later. Is this what we now call kindness? Is this what humanity has come to? How difficult is it to set aside your ego and genuinely help someone out without asking for anything in return? Would it hurt to be kind? Would you lose anything by spreading kindness? If not, then why do people walk past a poor man asking for food or a woman asking for help?I have experienced kindness in my life. It all started when a new girl named Samantha joined my class. No one paid any attention to her. So, I felt bad and asked her if she wanted to be my friend, to which she joyfully agreed. She became part of my friend group. Soon, all my friends started liking her and they stopped caring about my existence. I decided that I did not like her. I was the reason she had met my friends and instead of being thankful, she took my place in their lives. A Moment When Someone You Did Not Like Surprised You With Kindness
