CELEBRATING GOD%u2019S GOODNESS 189Technology has certainly made human life easier, especially with regard to poverty, hunger, disease and other problems that the world faces. For example, technological innovation effectively kills two birds with one stone, both by boosting the economy and tackling world hunger. With the advent of instant communication mechanisms and the World Wide Web, farmers from rural areas, belonging to the most obscure regions of the world, are able to trade their produce worldwide. This not only results in generating an active cash flow capable of boosting an economy, but it also serves as a means to distribute staples and grains to various parts of the world. That aside, the internet has become a platform for various humanitarian websites such as GoFundMe, which rely on the empathetic and generous nature of people to donate to strangers in need, be it to help with the expenses due to illness or other reasons. The exponential rise in technology also creates millions of job opportunities each year, primarily in the IT sector. Additionally, areas like social media marketing, cryptocurrency and net banking also contribute to this influx of jobs, creating livelihoods for millions of people worldwide. The possible threats that hinder technology from almost single-handedly solving global problems are, including but not limited to, cyberbullying, security breaches and data theft. Although it may seem daunting to hear of security breaches such as the recent Microsoft system outage, though unfortunate, such events serve as a reminder of humanity%u2019s constant reliance on technology. Ultimately, issues such as cyber fraud and harassment often result from human actions.Furthermore, over-engagement and addiction to the Internet can be destructive to attention spans and overall well-being. The list of potential threats is endless. Since time immemorial, it has been in human nature to exploit an existing system and technology is no exception. But how exactly is humanity meant to deal with such an innate human problem? The first step is to FULLY UNDERSTAND that this is, in fact, an innate human problem, and not an issue tethered to technology itself. In his Theory of Forms, Plato theorised that a realm exists beyond physical reach, where theories and ideas exist in perfect form and that the world is simply an imperfect copy of this realm. Applying this concept to technology, we can focus on and address the root problem of humanity. Ultimately, most scams and fraud stem from victim ignorance and negligence, which can have grave consequences. Educating people, especially the illiterate and uninformed, can significantly help in solving global challenges. Most importantly, carelessness and complacency must be tackled first. It is easy to find problems and issues with technology, but while it is important to constantly assess, we should also focus on the areas where technology enriches our lives. Being a student, it is not uncommon to hear of people being on the receiving end of unpleasant conversations online. However, it is important to look at problems such as cyberbullying in a different light.
